Here is all the advertisement you are going to see... If you like the "File Encryptor" program, take a look at our other 100% freeware programs at Titlebar Software's homepage. Our main programs are the "Tray Folder" programs. Take a look at them, if you like, at:

Go to the web site to get the latest version of File Encryptor whenever you want.

"File Encryptor" is a small program that encrypts and decrypts files. The files are encrypted to a file location of your choosing. By default the encrypted file is created in the same folder in which the source file is located. To change the location of the encypted file change the "Destination File" before you click the "Encrypt" button. You must create a password for the encrypted file. A short and simple password is suggested.
--------

Installation:
Run the File Encryptor setup file and a shortcut group will be created in your Start Menu's Programs list. Locate the File Encryptor shortcut in this shortcut group. This shortcut can be copied and pasted anywhere you would like. The setup procedure is straight forward so installation will probably only take you a moment or two.

The File Encryptor program is installed for the current user only. File Encryptors program files folder will be located under your profile, in your computer's file system, in the Program Files directory. This is very likely a hidden folder. Use the "Show hidden files and folders" setting to make this folder visible. This setting is located in "Folder Options" under the "View" tab.

The Shortcut group can be moved out of the Start Menu's Programs list.

Default Folder location:
C:\Documents and Settings\(User Profile)\Program Files\File Encryptor

Using "File Encryptor":

Start the program and you will see an "Encrypt" button and a "Decrypt" button. You will also see a "Browse" button. Click the Browse button and locate the file you want to work with. The Encrypt but will be enabled when a file is selected that has not been encrypted using the Encryptor. If the file selected has been encrypted using the Encryptor program the Decrypt button will be enabled.

The files are encrypted/decrypted to a "Destination File" of your choosing. By default, files will be encrypted to the folder that contains the file being encrypted.

You must also use a password. The password is of your choosing and must be entered when a file is encrypted or decrypted.

When a file is encrypted THE ORIGINAL IS LEFT INTACT. It is left in its original location in its original condition. As a result, you will need to securely delete the original files that have been encrypted. Titlebar software does have a secure delete program named "sdFolder" that is freeware, dependable, and easy to use. However, there are a number of secure delete programs available as freeware- "IE Privacy Keeper" includes one and the "Eraser" is an excellent program that has been developed to securely and completely remove sensitive data from the user's computer. Both of these programs are excellent freeware programs.

Uninstall:
Go to "Add Remove Programs" in the Control Panel and locate the "Encryptor" on the list. Click on it to highlight it and click "Remove".
